His new AG nominee approves of appalling things. Now that John Ashcroft is leaving his post as Attorney General, I feel so much better knowing that our next Attorney General will be the man who advised George Bush that he could legally:

• hold suspects without allowing them access to the courts or even a lawyer
  
• ignore the Geneva Convention
  
• torture prisoners to obtain information

It's better than putting him on the Supreme Court, I suppose ... although that could still happen, too.
