Another enduring mystery solved?
The New York Post is reporting that the case of Judge Joseph Crater, who vanished without a trace in 1930 (inspiring the famous graffito, "Judge Crater, please call your office."), may about to be solved.
The judge, known for his ties to the city's corrupt political machine known as Tamanny Hall, vanished in 1930.

With no real leads, cops closed the case, but now new evidence has emerged.

According to the New York Post, a Queens woman who died earlier this year left a note saying her husband, a city police officer and his brother killed Crater and buried him under the boardwalk in Coney Island.

Police told the paper they're looking into whether skeletal remains discovered under the boardwalk during the 1950s could belong to Crater.

Isn't it amazing that we can be solving a 75-year-old missing persons case?

8/20 Update: Today's NYT article is much more skeptical, but provides much more background information as well. And while the Post refers to remains found 50 years ago, the Times says there are no records of any bodies found there when it was excavated back then.
